CSPE
“DISTINGUISHED MEMBER”
EVALUATION
FORM
California Society of Professional Engineers (CSPE) is offering a “recognition” program for CSPE members who exhibit active participation in engineering or related interests that “better” their image and horizon’s. It is very prestigious to participate and be a member of CSPE. CSPE is aware that a person works several years to become registered or licensed in the field of engineering. The CSPE State Board of Director’s felt that being a member of CSPE still does not recognize professional individuals who keep abreast of the engineering world and activities and who participate in the engineering community. Whether you help the youth become scientists, mathematicians or engineers, participate in seminars or professional meetings or different classes in professional development, you are not the “average” professional engineer.
Your State CSPE Board wants to recognize your achievements and activities aside from having “what it takes” to be a professional engineer (P.E.). Below is a list of items that CSPE believes should be noted and recognized for P.E's who take that extra step. Your customers, your affiliates and your peers need to be aware of your achievements. Recognition by CSPE will allow you to convey your achievements and activities and will be an acknowledgment of your professionalism making you more than the average P.E.
ACTIVITIES
*1) 15 years or more as a professional engineer (P.E.) and
3 or more years as a member of
NSPE/CSPE.
*2) Active participation in at least one (1) engineering related
professional organization in addition to
NSPE/CSPE.
3) Continuing Education in the form of higher learning institutes such as colleges, universities or more
focused training such as trade schools.
4) Professional Development meeting the requirements of "other" states to obtain P.E. reciprocity
(i.e., practice in another state).
5) Thirty (30) or more additional college semester credits above what was required for the members BS
degree in an Engineering or related field, or has obtained a masters or PHD in engineering or a related
field.
6) Participates
as a NSPE/CSPE member in local meetings, community involvement or
professional
development in the form of seminars, presentations,
workshops and other general-type engineering
related fields.
7) Obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional Accreditation or an
equivalent
certification from a recognized national technical organization.
8) Training in
ethics, harassment or similar subjects that are law or specific to your place
of
employment.
9) An achievement in engineering or related field not covered in the above activities that may be
submitted for evaluation.
10) Recent or past experience in serving as a officer of your local chapter, a State held position or
participation at the National level.
Items 1 & 2 with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. Also required is any combination of 3 or more
of the other “activities” listed. Once a
person submits their involvement of the above “activities,” they will
administratively be identified and noted at the State (CSPE) level. Afterwards, they will receive documentation
and a certificate to display the recognition and achievements from CSPE. More importantly, these persons will be
identified and recorded as milestones in the engineering communities, receive
recognition on the CSPE website, and periodically in the CSPE newsletter.
