Alliance for Energy & Economic Growth

CSPE is a proud member of the Alliance for Energy and Economic Growth (AEEG).

AEEG seeks to help build a national consensus for a comprehensive U.S. energy strategy that balances supply and demand without compromising environmental safeguards, so that we may fuel America’s economy and support our quality of life.

The unprecedented growth of America’s economy has rapidly outstripped our ability, under current policies, to develop and deliver the diverse energy supplies needed to sustain that growth. In the past 25 years, we have increased our use of energy in America by 34%, but domestic energy production has increased by only 18%. Today America is far more vulnerable to energy shortages and more dependent on foreign energy than during the energy crises of the 1970s.

Projections for the future show a greater disconnect between Americans’ energy needs and the availability of reliable, affordable energy. Our nation will need more power plants, pipelines transmission lines, and refineries to meet the growing demand for energy. If present trends continue, a widening gap between growing demand and stagnant supply will threaten America’s economic well-being.

Energy conservation, more energy-efficient products, and renewable fuels must be important components of this national energy policy. At the same time, we must fully address America’s long-term energy needs. It is essential to produce more from the traditional—and diverse—supplies that have, for many years, efficiently lit and heated our homes, fueled our cars, powered our factories and computers, and empowered each of us to do so many things no one imagined possible even a generation ago.

CSPE, in partnership with AEEG, is committed to using modern technologies to:

bullet

Increase energy efficiency and conservation;

bullet

Assure adequate energy supplies and generation;

bullet

Renew and expand the energy infrastructure;

bullet

Encourage investment in new energy technologies;

bullet

Provide energy assistance to low-income households; and

bullet

Assure appropriate consideration of the impacts of regulatory policies on energy.
