Why did I
receive a letter from the California Society of Professional
Engineers regarding my State Compensation Insurance Fund Policy?
Your firm received a letter from the
California Society of Professional Engineers (CSPE) because you have
been placed in a State Fund discounted group program (Group
92). Membership in CSPE is required to remain
in Group 92 to maintain your current discounted State Fund rates.
Unfortunately, many insurance brokers are unaware of the CSPE
membership requirement for Group 92. As a result, you received a
CSPE join request when CSPE audited the Group 92 membership.
How was I
placed in the CSPE Group 92 program with State Fund?
Your agent or broker placed you in
Group 92 because you are eligible for the engineering group discount
(i.e., architecture and design firms, etc.). You must belong to
CSPE to maintain your discount and remain in the Group 92 program.
If you elect not to join CSPE through one of the membership options
listed below, you will be removed from Group 92 and lose your State
Fund discounted rates.
What are my
membership options? What does it cost to join?
Currently, it costs $220 annually
for a CSPE membership if your company has an engineer that is a
principal in the firm. If this option applies to your company,
please join online by clicking
here.
This link will take you to the membership application with our
parent organization, the National Society of Professional Engineers.
If your company does not have an
engineer who is a principal in the firm, you must join
as a CSPE
Supporting Organization ($250 annual dues), or your
company will be removed from Group 92. Membership as a Supporting
Organization entitles you to all California
membership benefits, as well as a company listing in our
CSPE Online electronic newsletter, and on our
website. To join as a Supporting Organization, print out
the application form
here. Submit your application form and a check payable to
the California Society of Professional Engineers to the address
shown on the form.
What if I
have further questions?
If you have additional questions
regarding the State Fund Group 92 program, you should contact your
insurance broker, or State Fund directly. If you have questions
regarding membership in CSPE (either as a member or as a Supporting
Organization), contact us at
info@cspe.com.
