PE Civil Exam Review Course
Course Description:
This class meets for 11 sessions over seven weeks. Topics covered include, hydrology, waste facilities engineering, mechanics of materials and IBC loads, fluid mechanics, soils and foundations, open channel flow, highway engineering (2 sessions), timber/steel design, construction, concrete and engineering economics (brief review). This class does not cover seismic

or land surveying.

 

Course Dates: Dates for the live site are Tues. 2/23; Thurs. 2/25, Tues. 3/2, Thurs. 3/4, Thurs. 3/11, Tues. 3/16, Thurs. 3/18, Tues. 3/23; Thurs. 3/25, Thurs. 4/1, Tues. 4/6. Dates for the Webinar course are Tues. 2/23; Thurs. 2/25, Tues. 3/2, Thurs. 3/11, Tues. 3/16, Thurs. 3/18; Tues. 3/23, Thurs. 3/25, Thurs. 4/1, Tues. 4/6, Thurs. 4/8. Classes will generally meet from 6-9 p.m. Central Time.

 

Live Course Location: TBD in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Webinar Requirements: All Webinar sites must have a computer with Internet access. To use the VoIP audio option, your computer must have speakers. To speak using the VoIP option, a headset and microphone is required. Using the phone option, a land line phone is required (no cell phones). An LCD projector is suggested for sites with more than one student. See page two of the registration form for more information.

 

Materials: The class will utilize textbooks published by Professional Publications, Inc. (PPI). Required are the PE Civil Reference Manual for the PE Exam, 11th Ed. (Lindeburg) and Civil Engineering Solved Problems, 5th Ed. (Lindeburg). Recommended but not required are the Civil PE Sample Exam, 2nd Ed. (Lindeburg), Six Minute Solutions for the various afternoon exam sections and Timber Design for Civil and Structural PE Exams, Kim (6th Ed.). These books are allowed in the exam room in Minnesota. Check your state licensure board for specific rules on what is allowed in the exam room in your state. When ordered through CSPE, you’ll receive 15% off the regular purchase price for these books! Course Description: This class meets for 13 sessions over eight weeks. Topics covered include statics, mechanics of materials, fluids and hydraulic machines (2 sessions), dynamics, power cycles, thermodynamics, machine design (2 sessions), combustion, HVAC, heat transfer, failure theory, fans and ducts/compressible flow, and engineering economics (brief overview).

 

Course Dates: Dates for the live site are Wed. 2/17, Mon. 2/22, Mon. 3/1, Wed. 3/3, Mon. 3/8, Wed. 3/10, Mon. 3/15, Wed. 3/17, Mon. 3/22, Wed. 3/24, Mon. 3/29, Mon. 4/5, Wed. 4/7. Course Description: This class meets for 13 sessions over eight weeks. Topics covered include mathematics (3 sessions); mechanics of materials; statics; dynamics; thermodynamics, power cycles and heat transfer; chemistry and materials science; electronics, computers and instrumentation; AC and DC electricity; fluids; engineering economics; biology; and ethics. The course also

includes 30 day access to PPI’s Online Exam Café, providing you with over 2000 problems similar to those found on the FE exam, plus the option to create realistic, timed exams with your exam score and solutions sent to you for review. Course sessions are focused on the general morning and afternoon exams.
